Business Race Rules
- The entry fee for the Business Duck Race is a $150.00 donation to the HSNMB.
- Winners will be selected in three (3) categories: Votes are $1.00 each.
- 1) Super Cyber Duck* (duck that receives the most votes before race
day)
- 2) Peoples Choice** (duck that receives the most votes on race day)
- 3) Fastest Duck in Town
- *Vote for the Super Cyber Duck by visiting the Humane Society of North Myrtle
Beach, 409 Bay St. or online at www.humanesocietynmb.org using PayPal. This voting
will end on Monday, September 6, 2010 at 10 PM.
- **Vote for Peoples Choice on Race Day at the Business Duck display booth.
- You will receive your duck to decorate when the HSNMB receives your donation. We will
pick up your Decorated Duck and put it on display by August 1, 2010. Your decorated
duck will be displayed at the NMB Chamber of Commerce until Friday Sept 10, 2010. On
the HSNMB website as well as published in the NMB Times newspaper as they come in.
- Rules for decorating:
- 1) Put your logo or business name somewhere on the duck.
- 2) Be
creative in a people and animal friendly manner. We want to make sure we have a
humane Business Race.
- 3) The size of your display is not to exceed 18" X 18".
- In memory of 9/11 you are invited to decorate your duck in a patriotic theme.
- A "representative" duck will be placed in the water for the Business Race, so do not worry
about ruining your decorations.
- The businesses that participate will receive advertising through the HSNMB web site, the
NMB Times and also through the NMB Chamber of Commerce display, email blasts and
newsletters.
- All winners will be awarded a plaque and be featured on the HSNMB website and in the
North Myrtle Beach Times.
Official rules and regulations for the Paws Across the Water Duck Race
- The race will take place at Barefoot Landing in the Intracoastal Waterway in North Myrtle Beach,
SC on Saturday, September 11. All ducks will be provided by The Humane Society of
North Myrtle Beach (event organizer) and will remain the property of Great American Merchandising
and Events (presenter).
- Approximately 5,000 ducks will be entered in the race.
- In the case of inclement weather, acts of God or other circumstances, the event organizer reserves the
right to postpone or reschedule the race, or determine winners by a random drawing, in its sole
discretion.
- Once the ducks are launched, participants may not interfere with any duck.
- A number will be attached to each duck relating to the number on an adoption certificate. Multiple
duck entries from one ticket will be assigned additional numbers for identification. The personʼs name
that appears on the adoption certificate corresponding to the first ducks in the order of retrieval will be
awarded prizes.
- The entry portion of each adoption paper must be completely filled out and received by The Humane
Society of North Myrtle Beach prior to the start of the race for a ticket to be eligible to win a prize. Entrants
assume the risk of non-delivery of any entries. All mailed entries not received on or before September
10, 2010 become tax-deductible donations to The Humane Society of North Myrtle Beach.
- The Humane Society of North Myrtle Beach, PO Box 3369, North Myrtle Beach, SC 29582 does request
a donation of $5.00 per entry to benefit the Humane Society of North Myrtle Beach, a charitable
organization under Section 501C (3) of the Internal Revenue Code.
- Winners must be 18 years of age or older and must prove eligibility. Members of the Humane Society
of North Myrtle Beach Board of Directors and employees are not eligible to win.
- Any and all taxes, tags, titles and similar fees are the sole responsibility of the winner. Winner must
provide tax identification number to The Humane Society of North Myrtle Beach for reporting income.
- By entering, entrants release The Humane Society of North Myrtle Beach and its officers, staff,
directors and other related entities from any and all liability with respect to prizes, and consents to
the use of their names and likenesses without additional compensation.
- Chances of winning depend on the total number of qualified entries.
- This event is subject to all federal, state and local laws and regulations and is void where
prohibited by law.
- The Humane Society of North Myrtle Beach Executive Committee will make all decisions and
interpretations of rules and regulations and its judgment is final.
- The logo and name of the Paws Across the Water Duck Race is a registered trademark and no other
person or entity is authorized to copy or otherwise use it without the express consent of The Humane
Society of North Myrtle Beach and the Great American Duck Races.
- A copy of these rules and regulations is available by sending a written request and a self addressed,
stamped envelope to The Humane Society of North Myrtle Beach at the address listed in Item 7.
- Prize winners will be announced at the Paws Across the Water Duck Race awards ceremony on
Saturday, September 11, 2010 following the conclusion of the race. Winners will, when necessary, also be
notified by United States mail or by telephone. If winner does not claim his/her prize from The Humane
Society of North Myrtle Beach within 30 days after September 30, 2010, The Humane Society of North
Myrtle Beach will select a winner through a random drawing of entry tickets. All prizes will be awarded.
- The Paws Across the Water Derby Duck Race is a licensed fundraising event of GAME-Great American
Merchandising and Events. The Logo and name Derby Duck Race/Turbo Turtle Trek are registered
trademarks of GAME and cannot be used or copied without its written consent. For more information
